Want to rear an invasive species on an invasive species? Check out our new paper!
Spotted lanternfly are everywhere on the East Coast right now. People see them at gas stations, on a hike, downtown falling out of trees, caught up in their skirt lol. They seem to thrive everywhere except in the laboratory. But fear not fellow researchers, my colleagues got you. Our new paper in Frontiers in Insect Science, we tell you how to successfully rear spotted lanternfly from egg to adult and then generate new egg masses again. I’ve used this protocol for several of my studies in the quarantine lab. AND, this gave me the opportunity to use my nascent drawing skills to make an infographic to visually display the conclusions of the paper. It’s the first infographic I’ve made where it was 100% drawn by my own hand. I hope it is a useful reference as we all continue to work to combat this grape destroying pest!
